*Emergency* My insurance is canceled, can anyone help me?

After tons of online research, I am almost positive I have unstable angina, which is a medical emergency. Within the last month, I have been to two hospitals for bronchitis, only to find out my health insurance was canceled. I now have a huge hospital bill that I already can't pay, but I HAVE to go to the hospital due to angina being a usual sign for heart attack. I was told that as long as I apply for insurance within six months of going to the hospital, the bill will be covered. Does anybody know if that is correct in California?
