HELP! I need a historical fiction topic!?

We are writing a historical fiction for school. It is supposed to be a realistic fiction. A story that could've and probably did happen. For example, if I'm writing about the American Revolution a typical one would be a father arguing with his son about whether he should join the war or not... That's a very typical timeperiod, but something to that a effect. Like a typical problem in that time period. It can be from any time in the whole history of the world! I'd rather something not sad or gory please! Please be creative and give me a good time period and/or story line! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!
