Keys wont work on my wifes Advent laptop?

If just 2 or 3 keys do not or just sometimes work then the keyboard will need replacing. We have spent long hours trying to repair defective keyboards and have never succeeded. They are made up of a membrane sandwich that easily absorbs liquids.
