Why is there no WW 1 Memorial in Washington?

I totally understand, answer is probably because America itself was never under any immediate threat of invasion. While 112,000 americans died (something like that) and it was a tragedy, just dont think the country was in enough danger to do such. Then again vietnam has one so who knows.
