well, the seedling cell's component (called plasma) contains water. plasma's water concentration is lower than salt solutions' concentration, and it cause a net movement of plasma (hypo tonic) to salt solution (hyper tonic) it's called osmosis. because the cells' component (plasma) have been transferred through a semi permeable membrane into the salt solution and caused dehydration.
